Scripture
Zechariah 14:1, 4-9 (ESV)
Behold, a day is coming for the LORD...On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. On that day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light. On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter. And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day the LORD will be one and his name one.

Craft a surrealist depiction that embodies the themes of Zechariah 14, with a specific emphasis on natural elements and the exclusion of man-made structures. The scene should center around a brilliant light symbolizing the renewal of all things, with key visual elements reinterpreted in a dream-like setting. Imagine the Mount of Olives splitting apart as a magnificent natural phenomenon, with a radiant, golden light shining from within, indicating divine power at work. Envision a mystical river originating from the split, winding through untouched landscapes, defying gravity as it elevates towards the heavens, signifying purification and the sustenance of life. Surround this spectacle with a gathering of various forms of life - trees bending towards the light, animals of all kinds drawn to its warmth, and flowers blooming out of season, all converging in worship and awe. The entire landscape is transformed by this divine light, casting no shadows but filling the world with a warmth and vibrancy that heralds the renewal of creation.
Devotional Reflection
In this final chapter of Zechariah, the prophet is describing the Day of the Lord. At its core, this moment is drenched in a mix of awe and fear, a testament to what happens when the deeds of unrighteous sinners are exposed in the display of God's overwhelming light and might. Yet, the accent of this chapter is one of hope. For the faithful remnant, this isn't a tale of terror-- it's the story of their liberation. Their powerful, awe-inspiring God has made a grand entrance, stepping directly into the fray to bring them light and salvation. The Day of the Lord is the day of God's presence coming to dwell fully and forever with his people. The glory of his all-pervading light fills every dark corner and erases every shadow. The taint of idolatry is eternally erased as the name of the Lord is lifted high above all things.
