Scripture
Isaiah 60:1-5 (ESV)
”Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes all around, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried on the hip. Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and exult, because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.“
AI Prompt
A panoramic image of a vast multitude of people, all traveling toward a city on a hill. The people, diverse in appearance and attire, are spread across a wide landscape, all moving in the same direction. In the distance, the city sits atop a hill, brightly lit and shining brilliantly, casting a warm glow over the surrounding area. The city's architecture is grand and inviting, with tall buildings and glowing lights, symbolizing a beacon of hope and destination. The scene captures a sense of journey, unity, and aspiration towards the radiant city.
Process/Reflection
I love the scale of this image. You can see enough detail in the people in foreground to understand the diversity of this multi-nation migration, but then the scale just becomes unimaginably immense. The nations are all streaming to the light of Christ. The people of God is being gathered. I think this image can challenge us (in a helpful way) in the way that we think about the local church. What's going on when we gather on the Lord's Day to hear his Word and receive his gifts? What we see with our eyes is very different from the invisible and grander reality of what God is doing when he gathers his Church.
